Damischa is a Wisconsin native with a background in corrections who now works across the border striving to make a difference. Although she has never been incarcerated, Damischa still brings a unique perspective to her work with individuals who have experienced trauma as she was no stranger to it as a child. She dealt with the aftermath of it all due to a parent being incarcerated, was left to harbor feelings, and was expected to just deal with it, which made her empathetic to this cause. Her experience working in the corrections system has provided her with insight into the complex interplay between trauma and involvement in the criminal justice system. Heavily dedicated to providing trauma-informed care to individuals who have been impacted by incarceration, violence, or other traumatic experiences. She understands the importance of creating safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their trauma, develop coping skills, and work towards healing and recovery. Her goal is to orchestrate ways so that individuals and families break the cycle of trauma and incarceration and empower them to create a positive future for themselves and to model what was learned, therefore aiding in breaking generational curses.
